Professionalism and Civility Committee

Created in 1990

Purpose

To identify factors that influence professionalism and to develop and recommend to the State Bar Board of Directors ways to improve professionalism with particular attention to the professional development of new lawyers. While encouraging civility to adversaries, officials, and colleagues, clients and other partners. Meets quarterly.

2024-2025 Projects and Objectives

Celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Texas Lawyer's Creed
Encourage more local bars to incorporate the Day of Civility into their calendar with an event and/or CLE presentation
Promote professionalism to the judiciary and the impact the judiciary can have on litigants
Promote professionalism to non-litigation areas
Encourage more professionalism and civility topics in various bar journals
