The Stars of Texas Bars Awards are presented to recognize local bar associations for outstanding community involvement, commitment to increasing access to justice, and dedication to the legal profession from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024.

Judge Sam Williams Award Past Recipients

The State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee annually honors one individual who demonstrates a commitment to fostering and maintaining the relationship between his or her local bar and the State Bar of Texas.

The award, established in 1990, is named in honor of Judge Sam Williams, the long-time president of the Northeast Texas Bar Association. Judge Williams was an outstanding leader of the local bar, who exemplified the highest ideals of the position and significantly contributed to maintaining the local bar’s relationship with the State Bar of Texas. The winner of the 2024 Judge Sam Williams Award will be announced at the Bar Leaders Recognition Luncheon at the upcoming State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting.
