PRE-LAW SUMMER PROGRAMS

  • Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) Pre-Law Summer Institute

    • A multi-week online program designed to prepare participants to be more competitive law school students. Program is part of the “CLEO Legally Inspired Cohort” (CLIC) program to identify, recruit, and train law school applicants who possess both the academic aptitude and leadership skills to attend one of CLEO’s partner law schools in supportive teams.

    • ASAP is a two-day pre-law summer seminar which focuses on the law school application process. The primary goal is to help prospective law school applicants understand the importance of factors in the admission process that are often overlooked or undervalued.

  • Seize Every Opportunity (SEO) Law Catalyst Program

    • Launched in summer 2020, Catalyst is a nine-month program that assists underrepresented students in applying, and gaining admission, to law school. Catalyst scholars participate in a free, 15-week LSAT preparation course taught by Manhattan Prep, attend workshops to strengthen their application materials, and receive individualized review of application materials.

  • Seize Every Opportunity (SEO) Law Fellowship Program

    • Provides a paid 10-week summer experience to underrepresented students the summer before law school, including a two-week academic and career development training program followed by an eight-week internship at a corporate law firm to help Fellows excel in law school and jumpstart their legal careers.

    • The TTU Pre-Law Academy’s mission is to prepare students for the competitive law school admissions process and the demands of law school, while also helping students create a vision for themselves as law students and lawyers.   • University of Houston Law Center Pre-Law Pipeline

    • UHLC’s Pre-Law Pipeline is designed to increase the diversity of law school applicants by providing law school preparatory resources – LSAT preparation, introductory law school classes, internships, and professional development sessions – for students who are first generation, low income, or members of groups underrepresented in the legal profession.   • University of Texas at Austin Explore Law, with Huston-Tillotson University* and Austin Community College**

    • Open to rising sophomores and juniors, Explore Law’s goal is to increase the numbers of high-priority undergraduate students from UT Austin, Huston-Tillotson University, and Austin Community College who apply to and are accepted into law school.     • Founded in 1998, UTEP’s LSPI College Summer Program was initiated to help prospective law students develop critical thinking skills and study habits and to guide students through the law school application process. (Contact: Rachel Serrano, rserrano5@utep.edu)

  • University of Texas at San Antonio Summer Law School Preparation Academy**

    • SLSPA offers an enhanced pre-law curriculum, supplemented by guest speakers and practical experiences, in support of the ILPA’s goal of increasing the number of students who gain admission to and excel in law school. (not specifically to increase diversity)

PRE-LAW MINOR/ADVISOR PROGRAMS

  • University of Texas at Tyler Pre-Law Academy-Undergraduate Program

    • Launched in fall 2020, this program has an undergraduate pre-law minor designed to help students master the LSAT. Additional support is provided to help students apply to law school. (not specifically to increase diversity)

PRE-LAW CONFERENCES/SYMPOSIUMS

LSAT SCHOLARSHIPS

    • Applicants must be members of a racial or ethnic group underrepresented in the patent law profession and be seeking admission to an ABA-accredited law school in the United States.

    • To increase the likelihood of admission to law school, the Fellow will receive a fully paid commercial LSAT preparation course of the Fellow’s choosing and a stipend equal to the most current cost to sit for the LSAT exam and Credential Assembly Service fee.
