District Director Positions

Attorneys in good standing who are interested in running as a district director on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors must submit a petition to the State Bar by March 3, 2025. Names provided on the petition should be legible. The petition must include the bar card number and the date of signature for each individual.

• To file as a candidate for district director, an attorney must submit the three documents below to the State Bar of Texas:

• 1. District Director Petition Form

Note: An electronic signature may be used on the petition form. State Bar Rules state that a petition signature is invalid if it is not dated or the signer signed the petition before September 1 of the year before the election.

• 2. Candidate Certification Form

• 3. District Director Bio Form

The biographical information provided in the bio form will be included in election materials to voters.

District director elections will be held from April 1 to April 30, 2025. Ten district director positions will be open this year from the various State Bar districts throughout the state. For a list of the open positions and individuals who have been certified as candidates, please see the charts below.

  Each district requires a specific number of signatures for an attorney to be certified as a candidate. Click the link above to determine the number of signatures required for each district. Note: An electronic signature may be used on the petition form. A scanned copy of the signature may also be used. Original signatures are not required.

  For a list of attorneys certified to run in a district, click the link above. Note: The list is updated as attorneys are certified as candidates.

To assist in the improvement of the State Bar and the legal profession, your full commitment to the duties of a director is expected. Directors serve three-year terms and participate in many activities and events that require a significant time commitment.
