State Bar President, 2001-2002
Broadus Spivey was a partner in the Austin firm of Spivey & Grigg, L.L.P. He celebrated his 50-year lawyer anniversary in 2012. He was a former president of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association. Spivey served on the board of governors of the American Association of Trial Lawyers and the board of directors of the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. He was a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, International Society of Barristers, and American College of Trial Lawyers. Spivey was an advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates and was certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Spivey served on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and as a director of Texas Lawyers for Public Justice. He received the 1998 Professionalism Award from the State Bar College and was one of three recipients of the State Bar Presidents’ Award in 1999.
Spivey earned his B.A. from the University of Texas and J.D. from
the University of Texas School of Law.
